GE’s Multilin Agile Feeder Protection solution offers advanced protection, monitoring, and control for utilities, industrial plants, onshore and offshore renewable collectors, and more. Serving as primary or backup feeder protection, it is equipped with advanced communication options and extensive monitoring capabilities.
Applicable to distribution and industrial feeders, this powerful yet compact device features a graphical color display for presenting configurable Single Line Diagrams that enables bay monitoring and control. It also provides distribution feeder protection for the detection of faults on compensated networks, and load encroachment on heavily loaded lines.
The Multilin B90 bus protection relay, a member of the UR Family, features integrated protection and breaker failure for re-configurable MV, HV, EHV multi-section busbars with up to 24 feeders. Use one or more B90 relays together to build a flexible protection system that can be engineered to meet specific application requirements. The B90 performs fast and secure low-impedance bus protection with a sub-cycle tripping time of 0.75 cycles and 06 differential zones per phase.
The Multilin B30 bus protection relay features integrated protection, visualization and metering for LV, MV, HV and EHV busbars, providing cost-effective, feature-focused centralized or distributed busbar protection scheme. Use the B30 to protect busbars with up to 6 feeders 2-zones (conventional CT inputs) or up to 16 feeders 6-zones (with process bus module) with up to six three-phase differential zones. The Multilin B30 relay is a cost-effective alternative to high-impedance schemes, ideal for breaker-and-half bus schemes, with integrated feeder backup protection.
Built on the industry-leading UR platform, the G60 offers superior protection for medium and large generators, including large steam and combustion turbines, combined cycle generators and multi-circuit hydro units. The G60 may also be used on pumped storage generators without the need to switch the CT secondary circuitry. The G60 provides advanced communication with an integrated, fully managed Ethernet switch reducing network installation costs while supporting industry standard communication protocols.
Built on the industry-leading UR platform, the G30 provides advanced protection for small to medium-sized steam, hydraulic and combustion-turbine generators. The G30 is also well suited for applications where both the generator and transformer are in the same zone of protection, providing the required protection in one device. The G30 provides advanced communication with an integrated managed Ethernet switch, while supporting standard communication protocols including IEC 61850.
The T60 is designed for various power applications, including autotransformers, generator step-up transformers, split-phase, angle regulating transformers and reactors. It uses multiple current and voltage inputs to provide primary protection and backup protection of transformers, including differential, ground differential, five distance zones, phase, neutral, and ground overcurrent, under and overvoltage, under and overfrequency, over-fluxing, and breaker failure.
The T35 is designed to provide basic transformer protection functions for variety of transformer applications. It uses multiple current inputs to provide primary protection and backup protection of transformers, including differential, phase and ground overcurrent. The relay can be configured to accept up to 6 sets of current inputs to provide proper differential restraint for applications with three-winding transformers with windings configured in dual-breaker arrangements.
The D60 is suitable for protecting transmission lines and cables including lines equipped with series compensation. The D60 supports dual-breaker applications and can be applied in single-pole or three-pole tripping applications. The D60 is applicable to different teleprotection schemes and includes inter-relay protection communications via direct fiber as well as different interfaces. The D60 also provides synchrophasor measurement over Ethernet per IEEE C37.118.
The D30 is a cost-effective distance protection system suitable for primary protection of sub-transmission lines and as a backup protection for HV, EHV lines, reactors and generators. The D30 provides five zones of phase and ground distance protection along with complete overcurrent and voltage protection functions intended for three-pole tripping applications. The D30 comes with versatile automation features using custom pilot schemes, which can be built.
The L90 provides high-speed current differential protection suitable for transmission lines and cables of various voltage levels, while supporting complete distance protection and dual-breaker applications suitable for single and three-pole tripping applications. The L90 uses synchronized sampling at each relay to limit the impact of communications channel issues. The differential element’s adaptive restraint balances sensitivity for internal faults and security during external faults. The L90 supports inter-relay protection communications via direct fiber as well as different interfaces.
The L60 provides fast and secure sub-cycle phase comparison protection, for both two-terminal and three-terminal lines, lines with series compensation and for single-pole and three-pole tripping applications. The L60 can operate using existing power line carrier or fiber optic communications, and compensates for channel asymmetry and charging currents. The L60 can provide complete support of dual-breaker line terminals by using multiple current inputs.
The L30 is a cost-effective line current differential protection relay intended for sub-transmission and medium voltage lines and cables providing reliable and secure operation even under the worst case power system conditions. The L30 provides secure high-speed fault detection and clearance suitable for three-pole tripping applications. The L30 supports inter-relay communications via direct fiber as well as standard RS422, G.703 and C37.94 telecommunication interfaces. The L30 also provides synchrophasor measurements over Ethernet per IEEE C37.118.
The C70 is an integrated protection, control, and monitoring device for shunt capacitor banks based on the well established and proven UR relay platform of GE Multilin. The C70 provides both the bank and system protection schemes for shunt capacitor bank protection. The current and voltage-based protection functions provide sensitive protection for grounded, ungrounded single, and parallel capacitor banks and banks with taps.
The C60 breaker protection system is a substation hardened controller that provides a complete integrated package for the protection, control, and monitoring of circuit breakers. The C60 supports dual-breaker busbar configurations such as breaker-and-a-half or ring bus arrangements.Signals from up to 4 sets of CT’s can be brought into the C60 via convetional wiring or process bus for internal summation, which is advantageous by still having the individual currents available for metering and the additional protection elements that operate on individual currents.
The C30 controller system is a programmable logic controller for performing substation or bay automation that can also be used for expanding the I/O capability of protection devices and replacing Sequence of Event (SOE) recorders. The C30 provides fast deterministic execution of programmable logic with I/O capabilities far above an average protection relay.
The F60, a member of the UR Family of protection relays, provides high performance feeder protection, control, monitoring and metering in an integrated, economical, and compact package. The F60 includes GE Multilin’s unique high-impedance fault detection for fast and reliable detection of downed conductors.
The F35, a member of the UR Family of protection relays, provides cost-effective feeder protection, control and metering for up to five feeders with busbar voltage measurement, or six feeders without busbar voltage in one integrated package. Use the F35 as a stand-alone device or as a component of an automated substation control system.
The M60 motor protection system offers comprehensive protection and control solutions for medium to large-sized three-phase motors. The P54, part of the MiCOM P40 Agile 5th Generation family, is a line differential and distance Protection that delivers high performance processing and a graphical HMI as standard. A cost-effective range of transmission/sub-transmission class protection relays providing comprehensive line differential protection for up-to 3 line ends, with in-built subcycle transmission class distance and directional earth fault protection. This range of products is ideal for HV, EHV and UHV applications on lines and cables for 1 or 2 breaker applications with patented adaptive auto-reclose functionality.
The MiCOM Agile P54 is also suitable for the complex installation and feeders controlled by two circuit breakers such as breaker-and-a-half configurations with dual breaker autoreclose logic schemes with synchrocheck for both breakers.

It is ideal for HV, EHV and UHV applications on lines and cables for 1 or 2 breaker applications with patented adaptive auto-reclose functionality.
Part of the MiCOM P40 platform, the Agile P14x feeder management relays provide an integrated solution for the complete protection, control and monitoring of overhead lines and underground cables, covering all distribution and transmission voltage levels. Providing all essential information to efficiently maintain complex power systems and their components, the P14x relay family is user-friendly and highly flexible, allowing application on any electrical network.
Part of the MiCOM P40 platform, the Agile P24x relays offer comprehensive motor protection, control and monitoring for both induction and synchronous motors with up to 10 RTD inputs. GE’s MiCOM Agile P34x generator protection relays provide flexible and reliable integration of protection, control, monitoring and measurement functions for a wide range of applications. The P34x relay platform is available in six models that cover most installations from small generators to sophisticated systems including generator-transformer applications and large variable speed double fed induction pumped storage machines.
Part of the MiCOM P40 platform, the Agile P441, P442 and P444 numerical full scheme distance relays provide flexible, fast and reliable protection of transmission and sub-transmission lines. They include full scheme 6-zone distance, plus aided directional earth fault (DEF) and comprehensive backup protection for utility lines and cables at all voltage levels, particularly oriented towards transmission grids.

Part of the MiCOM P40 platform, the MiCOMho Agile P443, P445 and P446 relays operate with advanced load blinding and disturbance detection techniques, such as power swing blocking, to ensure stability when no tripping is required. Whether protection is required for lines, cables or hybrids of grounded transmission and distribution circuits, the MiCOMho Agile P443, P445 and P446 relay characteristics allow for versatile deployment.
The MiCOM Agile P44T is a multifunctional protection device, supplementing distance main protection with a host of backup protection, thermal protection, recording, control, measurement and monitoring features. It provides fast, highly selective railway catenary distance protection combined with the delta directional decision proven technique. The trip time is typically 0.7 to 1 cycle. Five zones of protection with quadrilateral characteristics allow versatile deployment as the main protection for all AC catenary/feeder systems. With independently settable right and left hand side resistive reaches for each zone the P44T suits routes hosting regenerative braking trains.
The MiCOM P54A/B/C/E range is designed for overhead line and cable applications up to 6 terminals, interfacing readily with the longitudinal (end-to-end) communications channel between line terminals. Previously, transmission and distribution circuits would have two or three ends only, whereas five or more ends are becoming common to connect renewable generation. All models are ready for protection topologies ranging from two to six terminals, whether those multi-terminals exist now, or are provisioned for connection in the future.
Multi-ended current differential protection uses a high-speed and innovative biased differential characteristic. Phase-segregated differential elements provide consistent detection of solid and resistive faults.
Part of the MiCOM P40 platform, the Agile P543, P544, P545 & P546 range of transmission-class protection relays provide comprehensive line protection for differential, subcycle distance and directional earth fault applications, with 1/3 pole tripping. This range of products is ideal for HV, EHV and UHV applications on lines and cables of any length.
Part of the MiCOM P40 platform, the Agile P64x transformer protection relays helps preserve transformer service life and provides fast protection for transformer faults. The platform consists of three model variants (P642, P643 and P645) that cover two and three-winding transformers (including auto-transformers), with up to five sets of 3-phase CT inputs, and offers high and low impedance restricted earth fault, and has integral asset management capability.
The MiCOM Agile P746 provides complete protection for MV and HV busbar configurations with up to 2 zones plus a check zone, and up to 18 terminals. The MiCOM Agile P746 provides a centralized one box or three box architecture and is very simple to use. as it does not need to be deeply engineered and supports easy operation and maintenance of busbars.
The MiCOM Agile P746 protects busbar configurations at voltage levels up to extra-high voltage. Proven techniques and dynamic topology processing algorithms offer a combination of security, speed and sensitivity, with simple configuration for centralized architectures.
The MiCOM Agile P747 provides complete protection for voltage levels up to extra high voltage busbar configurations with a centralized 3-box architecture. The MiCOM Agile P747 can accommodate up to 4 zones plus check zone and protect up to 18 terminals. The MiCOM Agile P747 Is particularly useful in double busbar with double bus coupler applications and allows a high number of opto inputs, relay outputs, and virtual inputs and outputs to manage the complete substation scheme.
The MiCOM Agile P747 also incorporates enhanced circuit breaker failure logic with additional protection functions such as dead zone and overcurrent. In addition, the MiCOM Agile P747 provides a wide range of measurement, monitoring, post fault analysis and self-diagnostic features. Powerful programmable scheme logic, trip circuit supervision, fully customizable menu texts, multi-level password protection, on-line measurements and plant status monitoring are all included. MiCOM Agile P747 employs an innovative external fault detection algorithm to ensure stability when CTs become saturated.
The MiCOM Agile P841 is a multifunctional line terminal IED for control and back-up protection in transmission and sub-transmission feeder bays. The P841 provides management of single or dual breaker autoreclose logic schemes with synchrocheck.
Its flexibility means it can be used with different bus-bar arrangements. The MiCOM Agile P842 Mesh Corner Reclose unit (MCU) provides a flexible, distributed scheme for delayed auto-reclose (DAR) and auto-isolation of a mesh bus station.

It has also been purpose built as a direct replacement for GE’s existing range of Multilin motor protection relays including the 169, 269, 269Plus, and 369 devices.
Based on the same field proven hardware and protection and control algorithms of the Multilin 8 Series, the 859 delivers advanced features including high-speed protection, customizable programmable logic, and advanced motor monitoring and diagnostics – all in a fixed mount, slim design.
With extensive communication capabilities the 859 easily integrates into new or existing process control systems, enabling operationally focused motor management and control.
To simplify the migration and upgrade from existing Multilin 169, 269/269Plus, and 369 protection relays, the 859 has the same cutout and depth. In the case of replacing a 369 relay, the 859 has the same terminal arrangement, eliminating the need to change field wiring. In the case of other relays, detailed one-to-one wire maps and setting file conversion tools are provided to significantly simplify the upgrade process.
